Welcome, Guerrero, Saturn, Malenko, and Benoit!
It's once again, Sharpshooter time! This week, a lot of things happened in the wrestling world, so lets get started! First up, as always, ratings!
Wow! Nothing exciting happened to Nitro in the ratings, but something did for Raw! They drew a 6.7 composite! OUCH! That's gotta hurt WCW. It's amazing how the WWF's ratings spiked this week! Now, WCW got a 3.1, isn't that the same thing they got last week? Oh well, they totally lossed like they always do. Goodness, Raw more than doubles Nitro's rating! It's funny, I can remember that not all that long ago, Nitro got, oh, about a 4.1, and they were leading in the ratings war. Remember when Raw was off the air for a week, and Nitro drew a 5.8? Well, I remember that was the highest rated wrestling show at that time. Little did we all know that not too far into the future, WWF Raw would draw more than that each week! Funny how things change.
It's SUPER BOWL TIME! Keep in mind, I'm writing this on Thursday, so the Super Bowl hasn't happened yet. The WWF is once again showing commercials for it, with another controversial one. All I have to say is if Mr. McMahon holds another commercial that makes me ashamed to watch the WWF, and embarrassed in front of me peers, I'm going to be rather upset. There is no need to make such terrible commercials, so why do it? Their show isn't garbage anymore like it used to be, so why make it seem like it is? What I've found, is the reason most people don't watch wrestling is because they think it's like those stink'n Super Bowl commercials the WWF has! Well, I'm not going to spend anymore time on this, I'll just have to wait and see what happens Sunday.
I've read the freshly posted WWF Smackdown spoilers, and one thing seemed interesting to me. Well, two things, but right now I'm only going to write about one of them. Of course, it's the X-pac/Tori thing. Did I not say when they first had this angle that she was going to turn on Kane? I guess every dog does have their day! Okay, I'm not beauty queen myself, but what is the big fuss over Tori? I wouldn't exactly say she has a nice face. If you ask me, it's a bit weird looking, and her nose isn't in the nicest shape. There are other Women of Wrestling that I can see why you guys could make a fuss over, like Tami Lynn Sytch, and Terri, but not Tori.
Vince and Shane coming back soon? Well, according to WrestleTalk America they are. What WrestleTalk America is, I don't know, but that's what they're saying. They're saying that Vince and Shane will be coming back at Wrestlemania 2000, and Stephanie will double-cross Triple H. This will be her handling it "by herself", or "her way", which is what she requested of her dear old Dad, and brother Shane. It does seem like a good angle, but one problem is still left. She would still be legally married to Triple H. But I'm sure everyone will forget about it by then, and they'll just drop it.
WCW's ex-talent has verbally agreed to sign with the WWF! It looks like there is no reason for me to watch WCW anymore, now that the WWF has most of my favorites. Right now the only thing that is saving WCW for me is Bret Hart, David and Ric Flair, and Piper. Then, in the WWF, we have Jericho, Al Snow, Guerrero, Malenko, Saturn, Douglas, Triple H, and the list goes on and on. I guess my remote control will have some time off on Mondays. Because with WCW's lack of talent, the only thing Nitro is good for is putting infants to sleep.
Alright, the Super Bowl is over and I've seen the controversial commercial. I now feel pretty stupid about writing that paragraph a couple lines up. I don't see the big deal. For those of you who had better things to do than watching guys run around in spandex and hurt each other (I'm referring to Foot Ball, not wrestling), I'll tell a little bit about the commercials if you missed them on Raw as well. First, they had a the Baby commercial, followed by the Beauty Pageant commercial. I'm glad they showed the rejected commercial on Raw, because it really wasn't anything bad. Okay, people screamed "Puppies", but no one would actually know what they were. Although, I'm trying to figure out if all of the gracefully aged people were supposed to be the WWF Superstars in their old age, or just random people.
I just have a little Smackdown note. That X-pac/Tori seen must've been something else. It was so choppy on TV, they must've edited a lot of it out. X-pac has been known will going too far with his interviews, so he probably did it again on this one. Or it was all planned and they just decided to make more work for themselves by editing it.
Hey, do you like Star Wars, books, music, TV, and movies? Than I know a message board you'll love! It's called No Fantasy Too Final! Come on, have I ever steered you wrong? Wait, don't answer that. Go and join, it really is a good board. Hey, it's Sheerah's Sharpshooter approved, and you know I don't promote anything that isn't! Here is the address, to check it out: http://pub3.ezboard.com/bnofantasytofinal.html
Another rumor about Wrestlemania is Steve Austin might be the special referee for the Main Even, and turn heel. You realize, if that happened, the Stephanie turning on Triple H idea would probably be scrapped. For one, that would probably be too many turns in one night. THEN, Stephanie wouldn't of properly gotten her revenge. The only way it would really work is if Stephanie turned on him before that, and then appointed Austin to referee the match, knowing the heat between the two. Of course, she wouldn't know that Austin would turn heel. This is only a rumor, and I highly doubt anything will come of it.
Did you like the WWF Super Bowl commercial? Well, vote for it for the Best Super Bowl commercial for USA Today! While I'm writing this, it was #3 on the best list, lets see if we can get it higher! Go to: http://www.usatoday.com/money/admeter/vote.htm and vote!
Hogan not coming back to WCW? Well according to Wrestle Board he isn't. Of course, I've gotten a lot of news at Wrestleboard that didn't live up to their expectations, so we'll see what really happens. I'm pretty sure the WWF doesn't want Hogan back, so if he doesn't go to WCW I think he'll finally go into retirement. The wrestling world seems to be getting along without him just fine, considering he hasn't been around for a long time. He's not getting any younger. Even Mick Foley is retiring, and he's a whole lot younger than Hogan. Although, another reporting on WrestleBoard is Hogan will be returning to the NWO. They got that from an actual thing for Super Brawl. So which is true? We'll just have to wait and find out!
Ralphus in the WWF? This will never happen. Yes, that's another rumor. You have to realize, Ralphus actually works for WCW, his son even works for WCW with an on camera role! I don't think he'll be leaving WCW, just to do a little four week thing with Chris Jericho. Although, it would be very funny if he did, because he was great. Still, I'm pretty sure this isn't going to happen, sorry to disappoint all of my fellow Jericho-holics.
Wrestler appearances, I have nothing better to write about before Nitro, so I'll spend some time on this. February 2nd, Sting will be making an appearance on Regis and Kathy Lee to promote his new video! Then, on February 3rd, he'll be on the Martin short show for more video talk. Then, it's time for Sting's new video, which will be on TNT on February 6th. Billy Gunn will be on Sabrina the Teen Age Witch on February 4th. I'm sure you've all heard about the show, and it should be a great one. DDP will be on Cartoon Netkwork's Brak Special on February 20th. Then, there is WWF Attitude week on UPN! Where the Rock will be on Voyager, and Triple H will be on Grown Ups, and many other wrestlers will be on their best shows. I believe it's starts on February 7th, and goes through the entire week! Wow, these shows are not to be missed!
You know, there are some days that I wish I got TBS so I could watch Thunder. Then there are days when I wish I stopped being the lazy person I am and looked up the Thunder results. I'm sure if I did that, I wouldn't be so confused right now. From what I saw at the beginning of Nitro, Sid was stripped of the title, and then got it again. So I guess it doesn't matter what happened with that because nothing really changed. But where's Nash? What happened to him? Of course, I also wish I got TBS because of the fact Ric Flair was on it.
David Flair and Crow Bar are getting better as wrestlers. They already seem to be fan favorite, and do rather interesting interview, so it looks like they have it all going for them! I predict David Flair will turn into a big name is this sport. But my question is, who is Crow Bar? Is he an actual wrestler or what? Well, he has to be because he's is a great wrestler. I was thinking maybe he came from the Power Plant, but I've never seen someone that good come out of there.
I guess this Harlem Heat gimmick infringement angle could be good. Considering Booker T, or should I just say Booker, is in it, I probably won't like it as much. I don't know what it is, I've never liked Harlem Heat. Or at least the original Harlem Heat, I like the new one. Big T is a pretty stupid name, but at least it keeps Booker from having his "T". Midnight I don't know. I don't know enough about her, but she seems to be annoying and reminds me of Chyna and Asya.
Flair and Funk, or the New Age Outlaws? Of course, my pick is Flair and Funk. I could've sworn Ric was supposed to be getting heat from the way he was dissing all of the local sports teams. Although, I know the Funker was supposed to be getting heat because, well, he got it. What amazed me the fact that Ric Flair and Funk were there for so long, and they really didn't say anything much.
I MISSED IT! I was so mad, so irate, so, so, so mad when I missed Eddy Guerrero coming to the WWF! Oh, yeah, there was Benoit, Saturn, and Malenko there too. Good thing they showed a nice replay for me. I'm now happy, Eddy is in the WWF and hopefully he'll get the chance in the wrestling biz he's been deserving for a long time. I'm still hoping that Jericho and Eddy will team up, because they really were a great team. Well, there will probably be some more paragraphs about these teams in a litte bit, so I'll leave room for that!
Head Cheese, Head Games, Snow Bunny? I've thought about this for a while, and I've thought about it! Head Ache! Well, that probably won't go over too well with Steve Blackman, so lets think again. Alright, Blackman just wants to be himself, and doesn't want to change his name. I've got it! Something that goes great for the, and Blackman can be Blackman! The dynamic name is….. BLACK HEAD! This has got to be the new name for this team, Blackman can be himself, and Al Snow will get the name he wants! Alright, maybe it isn't the best name, but can you think of anything better?
Well, my column comes to an end, and I'm extremely happy with Raw! Hey, they brought in most of my favorite wrestlers, how could I not be satisfied with them? Nitro was okay as well. Although, for me the highlight was the look on Kimberly's face when she said "Disco Inferno pinched my butt!". Of course, I also liked the look on Disco's face when he was running for is life from DDP. That's pretty much it, now it's time for my Closing Remarks!
~Get well, Bobby Heenan!
~Schiavone, what exactly is a Show Snovle?
~Kurt Angle is my hero!
